RE: Funding for snowmobile trail grooming

The California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division has run an OSV Program for many years.  Under this program, the State provides funding for grooming of OSV trails, plowing of OSV trailheads, and operation of associated facilities.  In 2010, the State completed an environmental analysis intended to satisfy the review requirements of  the California Environmental Quality Act for the next ten years.

Snowlands has led a coalition that commented on the review, appealed the review, and in January 2011, sued in California State Court to overturn the review under CEQA.

We are joined by Winter Wildlands Alliance and Center for Biological Diversity in this lawsuit.
Bob Rowen is directing Snowlands efforts and has led the coalition’s comments and direction of the lawsuit, in partnership with Lisa Belenky from CBD. The Stanford Law Clinic (Silvas, Kapla, others) is also counsel on the case.

Please note: Bob Rowen is the only Snowlands representative who should be commenting to the media on this litigation. All articles, e.g. for the Bulletin, should pass through him for review.
